How you say good-bye in English depends on who you are talking to. There are formal, informal and VERY informal ways to say good-bye.

Similar to greetings, some people shake hands, wave, hug and kiss but this varies from situation to situation. It is best to follow what other people are doing or to do what makes you comfortable.

Formal

  1. Good-Bye Have a nice day!
  2. It was nice seeing you again.
  3. I look forward to seeing you again.
  4. Take care.
  5. Good night!

Informal

  1. Bye
  2. Bye-Bye
  3. See you later!
  4. Or- See you soon!
  5. Talk to you later.
  6. Take it easy.
  7. I’ve got to get going.
  8. I’ve got to run.

Really Informal

  1. Check you later.
  2. I’m out.
  3. Or- I’m out of here.
  4. I’m off.
  5. I’ve gotta take off.
  6. See ya.
  7. Peace
